Something’s got to give – Canada needs to step up

We want to share with you a simple tip that could help you to live more eco-friendly. Remember, even small actions have a significant impact.

Fact: Canada is using 15 billion plastic bags/year. (Torontosun.com)

Result: Every year, Canadians throw away over 3 million tons of plastic waste. It takes 400 years to break into small highly contaminated places.

Solution: Going shopping?  Grab a textile bag, bring your backpack or use crates carried in your car ( from cash register take your shopping cart to your car and place all your shoppings to crates ). Beware, when they offer you plastic bags for your shopping – just SAY NO!!! Not even you save money – they are not for free, but with one plastic bag, you save 5.5 g plastic going to waste. According to statistic, the average Canadian could save 2.2 Kilograms ( Kg ) of plastic going to the ocean every year.

Bonus tip: Looking for a better impact?

Our tip no.2: Your veggies and fruits do not need any plastic to be carried on to your table. Don’t use any light plastic bags to carry your veggies and fruits. There is no need to do that. First, you are killing the veggies & fruits with no air. Second, there is no need for wrap fruits like bananas in plastic – you will peel the bananas anyway ( you don’t eat the peel )  and the peel can be compostable as well.

Say NO to light plastic bags for fruits and veggies.
